Now that it is almost certain that our humble city will be having it’s very own SM Mall, I’m wishing that Union Bank of the Philippines opens a branch in it. Why? Because I have a Debit Card account with them. LOL!

Currently, I have to go to Union Bank Alabang Town Center every time I need to renew my card and if I want to add funds to it then the closest branch to San Pablo City is in Calamba City, Laguna. Come to think of it, San Pablo City has many banks but, unfortunately, the one where I have an active account in does not have a branch here.
I got my Debit Card when I was still working in Alabang as a Web Designer many years ago. I use it for online payment specially for my domain names and web hosting. Why I didn’t get a Credit Card? Well, the answer is pretty simple. Credit Card companies love to deny my applications. That is why I opted for a Debit Card instead.
In my case, if I Compare Credit Cards with Debit Cards? Some people can apply for 1 or 2 Credit Cards easily but not me. I have nothing to back up an application. No work, no money, no property, no nothing. With a Debit Card, all I need was a couple of valid IDs and the money for the initial deposit to open the account and that was it. My debit card was sent a week later. That was many years ago. Not sure if the process in getting a debit card is still the same today, though.
Anyway, for those who just can’t qualify for a credit card like me then the Best Credit Cards for us to use is a Debit Card. Why not! You use it just like Credit Card. Only difference I see is that you need to put funds in a Debit Card first before you can use it.
